Our anniversary trip to Florida

Me and my hubby decided to take a lovely trip to Florida for our "ten year anniversary".  My wonderful mama came down and stayed with my kiddo's so we could go enjoy our time together at the beach.  We went for four wonderful nights.  We had taken a family vacation  few years ago to Destin  and we fell in love with it.  We visited a stunning little town called Seaside, and we were hooked!  This little town has white picked  fences everywhere!  This town has a beautiful church, school, garden, and the most beautiful houses with huge front porches and screened in back porches. It has my name written all over it!  I would live there in a minute if I could.  This time, we stayed in a sweet little town called Santa Rosa beach.  It's between Seaside and Destin.  Seaside is very pricey so we decided to try this little town.  It was super cute with a lot of great shops, restaurants, and  a stunning beach.  We rented a little one bedroom condo that had a beautiful view of the beach.  While my hubby went kiaking I stayed at the beach with my umbrella, hat, and my book.  I was one happy girl!  He also went deep sea fishing.  He had a blast!   He went out for six hours.   While he was fishing I went antique shopping and enjoyed hanging out on the beach reading.  We enjoyed finding really cool places to eat dinner.  We found the most beautiful restaurants with awesome views.  I will never forget our time there together!  It's funny how you long to get a little break from your kids, but after a few days without them, you want them with you.

Here are some pics from our awesome trip:

Super cute thrift store find...

I have been looking for a chair for my bedroom and I found this super cute chair at a thrift store for $4.99.  I knew it was not the color I was looking for, but it did have great lines.  So I decided to sand it down and give it a fresh coat of white paint.  I drestressed it a bit and I love how it turned out!

Our bathroom redo...

Our poor master bathroom has needed an update for awhile now,  we finally saved up and decided to give it a little help.  For some strange reason, there was carpet in there under the sinks.  I don't know why anyone would want carpet in your bathroom!  First off, we ripped out the carpet and put tile down.  We found an awesome tile guy that was super reasonable and a very nice kid.  He did an awesome job!  He tiled our counter top, floors, and around our bathtub.  Then we painted the cabinet a chocolate brown and got new sinks and brushed nickel faucets.  We got a new light above the sinks at Lowe's  and  we framed out our mirror with some white molding.  I love the way it updated our mirror.  My hubby put a new rain shower in and a new shower faucet.  I panited the walls a really nice gray/khaki color.  I went to the "oops" paint section at Home Depot and got it for $5.00!  We put in new baseboards and painted all the molding.  We did all the work ourselves except for the tile.  We did have a dear friend help us with the baseboards.  Other then that, it was all us!  We love Our new bathroom!  Now off to the kitchen...

Love our fresh new bathroom!  We just started working on our kitchen update. We got new laminate counter tops, and our subway tile backsplash will be installed on Saturday. We are going to paint the cabnets white and I painted the kitchen a really pretty blue/gray color from Sherwin Williams.  I'm excited to see it all come together.  I'll post pics soon.

My birth story, one year later...

I can't believe I delivered my precious baby boy one year ago.  I have wanted to share my birth story for awhile now, but time has just flown by.

On March 12, 2010 around 6am I started to feel some pretty good contractions.  I decided to get in the bath and try to relax.  I had an appt with Dr Goff at 9am that day, so I decided to wait and see if my contractions were going to get harder and closer together.  When I got out of the bath about 8am I had a little bit of bloody show so I knew this was probably it.  I went to my appt at 9am and my contractions were getting stronger and closer by that time.  When I got into see Dr. Goff, I was dilated between a 5-6 and +1 station.  He told me to head on over the the hospital.  I was starving at this point and I begged him to let me grab something to eat before I went up the the hospital.  I reminded him that I wanted a "drug free" delivery and it shouldn't be a problem if I ate a little something.  He laughed and said I could.  I will never forget being in the cafeteria by myself breathing through contractions and eating a bagel.  My hubby was on his way up to the hospital and had know idea I was eating by myself.  I had many sweet people ask if they could help me up the to maternity floor.  It was pretty funny!  Once I got up there, they checked me in and I was so comforted to know that my sweet friend's mom was there to help check me in and be with me.  When it was time for my IV, I told them I just wanted an IV hep lock, so they would have IV access if they needed it.  I didn't have any fluids or meds through my IV.  It was so nice to get up and walk and not have to worry about that darn IV pole.  They also put me on the monitor to check and see how Sam was doing.  They only had to put me on it twice.  I was nice not to be attached 24/7.  Once they did my blood work and checked me in, I was free to walk the halls. When the nurse checked me, I was a seven.  By this time my hubby had arrived to help calm me and rub my back.  This was about 10:45 am.   I walked the halls for about 45 minutes, then I decided to get into the shower.  The shower was the BEST!  It felt so good!  I would come out of the shower and sit and take a break, then I would get right back in and breath through my contractions.  At about 12:15 pm I felt a lot of pressure.  I had Jeff call the nurse and when she checked me, I was complete.  I started pushing and my water broke.  I pushed about four or five times and then my precious Samuel Charles Melton was born at 12:26 pm.  Dr. Goff made it just in time!  He even let Jeff deliver Sam!  It was amazing!  I'm not going to lie, it hurt REALLY bad!  Jeff said I didn't scream or act crazy!  The nurse said I was quoting scripture.  " I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".  I didn't know I was saying that.  Pretty cool!  Right after he was born, they placed him on my chest for about an hour.  When they took him to the warmer, I jumped right up and watched.  It was great!  No sea legs!  He was a healthy  8lb's 1oz baby boy.

If your wondering why on earth I would choose to have a drug free delivery, let me tell you why.  First of all, I have nothing against epidural births.  I had epidurals with both of my girls.  They were both pretty smooth deliveries.  To be honest with you, I just wanted to have Sam the way God intended.  I know that might sound crazy, but it's the truth.  I wanted his birth to be simple and natural.  I couldn't have done it without support.  My hubby was a wonderful coach!  I'm so thankful that he was on board with everything.  My best friend has had two drug free deliveries and she talked me through everything during my pregnancy.  I don't know what I would have done without them!  I had wonderful support from my family, but some of them thought I was a little nuts!  That's alright!  I still love you!

If you were to ask me if I would do it again, without hesitation, my answer would be yes!  It was an awesome experience and I'm so thankful we made the decision to have a natural and peaceful delivery.

Blessings...

My precious Taylor Marie turned seven...

I can't believe my baby is now seven!  I remember the day she was born, like it was yesterday.  My darling Taylor was three weeks early and weighed only 6lbs.  She was my tiny little peanut.  We had know idea what we were doing and were scared to death!  Now, seven years later we have a beautiful little lady that fills our hearts everyday with sweetness.

We had planned to have Taylor's birthday party at the Express Clydesdale's farm in Yukon, but the weather did not cooperate with us.  With all the snow and super cold weather, we had to go to plan B.  So, we decided to have the party at our house.  Taylor took the news pretty good.  She was just super excited that her friends from church, school, family, and her cousins were going to be there.  She had a great time!  We had some yummy cupcakes with little boots on them.  So cute!  She had a really fun horse pinata that poor uncle John had to hold for us!   It was really funny!  I'm really surprised neither our TV or John got hit.  I took a lot of fun pics.

Enjoy...

My big seven year old!

Taylor wanted to go out to "cheese sauce" for dinner for her birthday.  My grandparents and her Papa met us at our favorite mexican resteraunt.  Meme wasn't feeling good, so she couldn't make it.  We had a nice dinner and more presents.  The resteraunt brought Taylor and my Papaw a special birthday dessert.  My grandpa's birthday is the day before Taylor's.  He was 96 on the 6th of Feburary.  I'm so greatful they share such close birthdays.  I took a few pics of our family time.

Happy Birthday Taylor!
