Our kitchen redo...Love it!

I'm super excited to FINALLY have our kitchen finished!  If you know me really well, you know that I ADORE the beach.  I was trying to go for a beachy-cottage look.  I painted the walls a really pretty blue/gray/green color called comfort gray.  I love it!  It's really calm and soothing.  I painted our cabinets white and distressed them a bit.  Love how they turned out!  I'm sorry I don't have a before pic, but I can tell you it was a little boring.  I wanted something light and beachy feeling.  We used small tiles from Home Depot that were $.29 a piece.  We had our tile guys place them in a subway formation.  We found a really pretty laminate counter top that was very cost effective and looks great!  It's hard to see in the pic, but the color looks like sand with white speckles in it.  I think they turned out awesome!  We also saved up for our lovely stainless appliance's.  Love the look, I don't like the fingerprints!  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my new burlap roman shades!  My sweet friends mama made these beautiful shades for me.  She did such a wonderful job!  I think they really pull everything together. We worked really hard on our kitchen.  It has been a work in progress for a long time.  We did everything with a small budget.   Here are a few close up pics.

Our anniversary trip to Florida

Me and my hubby decided to take a lovely trip to Florida for our "ten year anniversary".  My wonderful mama came down and stayed with my kiddo's so we could go enjoy our time together at the beach.  We went for four wonderful nights.  We had taken a family vacation  few years ago to Destin  and we fell in love with it.  We visited a stunning little town called Seaside, and we were hooked!  This little town has white picked  fences everywhere!  This town has a beautiful church, school, garden, and the most beautiful houses with huge front porches and screened in back porches. It has my name written all over it!  I would live there in a minute if I could.  This time, we stayed in a sweet little town called Santa Rosa beach.  It's between Seaside and Destin.  Seaside is very pricey so we decided to try this little town.  It was super cute with a lot of great shops, restaurants, and  a stunning beach.  We rented a little one bedroom condo that had a beautiful view of the beach.  While my hubby went kiaking I stayed at the beach with my umbrella, hat, and my book.  I was one happy girl!  He also went deep sea fishing.  He had a blast!   He went out for six hours.   While he was fishing I went antique shopping and enjoyed hanging out on the beach reading.  We enjoyed finding really cool places to eat dinner.  We found the most beautiful restaurants with awesome views.  I will never forget our time there together!  It's funny how you long to get a little break from your kids, but after a few days without them, you want them with you.

Here are some pics from our awesome trip:

Super cute thrift store find...

I have been looking for a chair for my bedroom and I found this super cute chair at a thrift store for $4.99.  I knew it was not the color I was looking for, but it did have great lines.  So I decided to sand it down and give it a fresh coat of white paint.  I drestressed it a bit and I love how it turned out!

Our bathroom redo...

Our poor master bathroom has needed an update for awhile now,  we finally saved up and decided to give it a little help.  For some strange reason, there was carpet in there under the sinks.  I don't know why anyone would want carpet in your bathroom!  First off, we ripped out the carpet and put tile down.  We found an awesome tile guy that was super reasonable and a very nice kid.  He did an awesome job!  He tiled our counter top, floors, and around our bathtub.  Then we painted the cabinet a chocolate brown and got new sinks and brushed nickel faucets.  We got a new light above the sinks at Lowe's  and  we framed out our mirror with some white molding.  I love the way it updated our mirror.  My hubby put a new rain shower in and a new shower faucet.  I panited the walls a really nice gray/khaki color.  I went to the "oops" paint section at Home Depot and got it for $5.00!  We put in new baseboards and painted all the molding.  We did all the work ourselves except for the tile.  We did have a dear friend help us with the baseboards.  Other then that, it was all us!  We love Our new bathroom!  Now off to the kitchen...

Love our fresh new bathroom!  We just started working on our kitchen update. We got new laminate counter tops, and our subway tile backsplash will be installed on Saturday. We are going to paint the cabnets white and I painted the kitchen a really pretty blue/gray color from Sherwin Williams.  I'm excited to see it all come together.  I'll post pics soon.
